Rehabilitation of the Hôtel Lutetia

The hotel Le Lutétia built in 1910 by the architects Louis-Hippolyte Boileau and Henri Tauzin is a remarkable and very homogeneous building. The main façade (rue de Sèvres and boulevard Raspail) is adorned with stone sculptures, vine motif and trellis. The corner of rue de Sèvres and boulevard Raspail is the outstanding feature of the façade with a stone pediment. The main entrance to the hotel is located at the south end of the building, it is marked by a large awning window ironwork. There have been many interventions on the building without any concern to integrate these into the original project. The Wilmotte agency wishes to restore the original façade at the bottom side of rue de Sèvres, modified during construction of the extension of 1930, the idea being to find the link to the front of the ground floor of the Boulevard Raspail. The two major passageways, the entrance and the Gallery, will be highlighted: the lobby of the hotel will be the true functional core of the hotel and the Gallery restored to its intended function: to serve all the public spaces of the Lutétia. Improving the internal functioning of the hotel is one of the priorities of this renovation. At all levels, the areas for services are being rationalised. The interventions on the existing structure are mainly divided between creating two new basement levels, reinforcing the existing floors using the composite slab technique made from light structural concrete and the punctual transformations of the structure aimed at improving the overall functionality of the building.
